About Me
Hi, I'm Sofia, aka Haito. I am currently studying Japanese and Cultural Studies at a university in Germany and am doing a homestay experience in Kyoto for one year.
Since my memory is pretty bad, I've always liked the idea of diaries to help me remember things, especially feelings and thoughts I had during a certain time. And since I've always wanted to have a blog myself, I am proud to introduce you to Haito's first internet blog experience!
Here I write about all sorts of things, but mainly Japan-related knowledge and my personal experiences while living here (and maybe after going back to Germany). If you want a quick taste of the content I create, how about you scroll through my blog entries? The titles should tell you a little bit about what interests me and what I am willing to share.
If you still want to know more, here are some of my interests. I've always enjoyed art and creating myself, especially drawing, working with color, and writing short stories. From time to time I try myself in other disciplines as well, woodworking for example, but drawing and writing are always the two I come back to. You can see a few of my artworks on my second Instagram, @haito.jpg. Apart from being creative, I love being in nature or seeing beautiful landscapes or cloud formations. That's why I go on walks often and try to not know where I'm going - the most beautiful places are oftentimes found when we aren't looking for them. Maybe I'll compile a list of those places in Japan for you one day. Whenever I am at a new place, the first thing I do is look for interesting hiking tracks since I quite enjoy hiking. It's the mix of getting some movement, fresh air, and the wonderful view that greets you at the top. Another interest of mine is music. In October 2022 I started playing the bass guitar and have been really enjoying it so far. Sadly, while I am in Japan I can't continue playing unless I rent a bass, but I'll see where I'll go with that (or if I'll even have the time). My favorite music of the month can be found in my monthly music recommendation blog entries!
In order to leave this a quick introduction I'll try to make it short, which definitely isn't a strength of mine. I hope you will find something on my page which will excite you, and if not, then I hope I at least got you thinking. Enjoy! :)
